Zonk’Izizwe CBD and Mixed Land Use Development - Midrand

LBS was included into the professional team just prior to the release of the final EIA in order to provide solutions to the project’s environmental constraints.  These related to site sensitivity and the protection and integration of protected areas within the masterplan.  In association with the largest theme design company The Development Design Group (DDG), the masterplan was completely redesigned.   It would now protect sensitive portions of the property without the need for conservation offsets via the introduction of an “ecological spine” running through the centre of the development.  This mixed land use development is one of the biggest of its kind in the southern hemisphere.  It has been chosen by the Clinton Foundation as one of sixteen worldwide “climate positive, carbon neutral” projects.
